When our friends or loved ones are diagnosed with something like breast cancer, we all want to be there to help and offer that support. We often say, with complete sincerity, "Please let me know if there is anything I can do." The patient will likely respond with, "I will. Thank you." The problem is - she won't. Asking her for ideas on how to help her doesn't relieve stress, but can actually add to it. (read more)

Breast Friends co-founders Becky Olson and Sharon Henifin were honored with this years' "Local Hero Award" in a ceremony on September 25, 2007. The award, sponsored by Susan G. Komen for the Cure and BMW of North America, was given to the two women because of their outstanding work in the field of breast cancer awareness. (read more)

When Becky Olson, president and Co-founder of Breast Friends, lost her hair to chemotherapy during breast cancer treatment, she thought her world had come to an end. She remembers feeling angry and depressed over something she had no control over. Being a success meant everything to Becky Olson. The 43-year-old mother of five had given up her dreams and time with her family to stay on top. But when she was diagnosed with breast cancer "I've missed so much!" she realized. Putting pen to paper, Becky composed a wish list of all the things she still hadn't done.
